Milk Cow....

My mother in law milks a cow twice a day. She sells the raw cows milk to several people a week. This has turned into a nice little business for her. I think it takes great devotion to milk a cow twice a day. She wakes up earlier than the rest of us, milks, cleans up and then comes in and gets two eight year-olds ready for school. Its craziness! Then she does it again in the evening!

Who's crazier? Her the one who committed to this or me the one who volunteered to cow sit while she's in Idaho for a week? Yes, that means I am milking twice a day.... Wish me luck!

Emily

I had the privilege of watching a good friend take my younger sisters Senior pictures yesterday! It's amazing to me how fast people grow up! I love that she is driving. I love that she feels independent enough to want to move out as soon as she graduates, but I'm nervous that shes not that independent! It scares me to death that she has a serious boyfriend...but at least shes staying on top of her grades. I know she will succeed at whatever she does....she's smart, beautiful, loyal, funny, talented and honest. She's a great little sister and one of the best aunts! I can't believe she'll graduate in 8 months!

Migraines

Trying to keep up with life has about worn me out! I'm not quite sure, but I think my body's way of trying to make me slow down is by throwing a migraine at me every now and again!

A year ago or so I was suffering from a constant headache...it seemed to have lasted for weeks on end! I finally decided it had to do with something I was eating.

As a child I suffered from the occasional migraine...as in I had to go to sleep to get rid of it! I would be sensitive to light, sound, smells. You name it it would make it worse! I remember several times where I would lay in my dark bedroom with a cold wash cloth over my forehead and eyes trying to fall asleep. When I would wake, my migraine would be gone.

My headaches last year were not like this....these were simple headaches..far from debilitating. My migraines have come back though! I hadn't had one in quite some time...maybe once a year since I was 16 or so. But I am getting them once a month now...for the past couple of months!

I had another last night. I would rather have the flu and be vomiting with a fever than have a migraine! When my migraines come on it is all I can do to function. I start shaking, my head starts throbbing, I become nauseous. Last night after about an hour of trying to function I went to bed. After Cameron finally fell asleep, I tossed and turned in bed willing away the tears from the pain and praying that I would fall asleep so the pain would go away! It seemed to be forever and a day before this finally happened but it was more like and hour and a half later before I fell asleep.

I still have a touch of a headache today and my gag reflex is extra sensitive, but, I think I will survive....until next time!

I've been

letting my creative juices flow and have lots of little projects up my sleeve. I can't wait to show you! Soon though....very soon!

Here are some hints...

1) this project will help Cameron to be "quiet" at church!

2) this project will help Cameron to "fly" on Halloween!

3) I bought a great piece of furniture at a garage sale....It needed some work though!

4) We are scout leaders and are getting crafty

5) I have a new, second calling at church...enrichment assistant leader...you'll never guess who the leader is!

Hopefully I will have pictures of some or all of these soon!

A yummy and easy recipe!

This last Sunday we were having a hard time deciding what to do with the four frozen chicken breasts sitting on our counter. You see, we don't go to church till noon...when we get home from church at a quarter after three we have some pretty hungry kiddos! Not to mention all of the hungry adults! We try to put something in the oven when we leave relying on our start timer on the oven! But, we've done everything you can think of with chicken and we wanted something new, something fresh and something tasty!Leave it to my Mother-In-Law to think of something a little strange. I questioned her sanity when she told me what she was thinking and you will question mine too....BUT when you taste it.....

4 chicken breasts, whole or cut into smaller chunks (ours were frozen)
1 bottle catalina dressing
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1 can cranberry sauce

Place chicken in 9 x 13 pan. Mix cranberry sauce, onion soup mix and catalina in a bowl. pour over chicken. Bake at 350 degrees till chicken is done. Enjoy!

The sauce is a beautiful cranberry red color....it's sweet and tangy. We served ours with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was YUMMY!!!

We spent this last Saturday outside! It was a beautiful fall day...Cole's sister Erin and her family came by to spend the day with us! Cole and Bruce were busy replacing the roof on the barn. I know in the picture above it looks as if they are talking rather than working....it looked that way to us most of the day too....but they were able to take most of the roof off and replace half of it in one day! The rest is waiting for another beautiful day.....

While they were working the rest of us were playing! Cameron Looks like a little man in this picture...I love watching him...he seems to have a plan no matter what he's doing.

When I asked him to say cheese he refused!

Here he's saying cheese but refusing to look at the camera.

This is what's left of our huge garden....a lone cherry tomato plant!

We had so much fun picking out our pumpkins from our own garden! Harmony was happy to smile for the camera...

This is the one he wanted..."because it's little mommy, like me!"

He could even carry it all by himself!

Hunter loved picking pumpkins....

Hyrum was so funny! He didn't want to hold his and every time Joseph would set it in Hyrums hand, Hyrum would drop it. This picture was staged...Joseph set it in his hands and backed away as fast as possible so I could click the camera and within a matter of seconds Hyrum had dropped the pumpkin again..it was pretty cute!

Even the leaves on our grape vines are changing colors! I love the beautiful purple color!

Later that afternoon Cameron and I met my sisters and Mike at the Pumpkin patch at Hanley Farm. We picked out another pumpkin...so we could carve another one with daddy!

Then we rode a horse drawn wagon!

I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday! Having fun, outside with our family!

Happy October!
